Tips For Oily Hair..

Since I'm struggling with oily face, I can relate to those of you who have oily hair..
Thankfully my hair is normal.. but I got some tips to deal with oily hair, I hope they help.
  • First of all, wash your hair twice a week. Use a special shampoo for oily hair.. and leave the foam on your hair for about five minutes before rinsing.
  • If you use conditioner choose one that is very light, and apply it in very small quantities. Just remember it's best to do at the ends,  because it causes oily roots.
  • Wash your hair with warm water.
  • When drying your hair, the best thing is to wrap the hair in a soft towel and let it absorb moisture.
***Avoid touching your hair, it causes more oil, just like touching your face does!

I hope these tips were helpful!

And here are some of the best shampoos out there for oily hair..

Desert Essence Shampoo, Lemon For Oily Hair

                                                    American Crew Shampoo

Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo for Normal to Oily Hair

                                      J. F. Lazartigue Micro-pearl shampoo for oily hair

Foods That Burn Calories!

 Grapefruit
Researches show that eating half a grapefruit or fruit juice drink with meals can reduce weight by more than three pounds in 12 weeks. Scientists believe that grapefruit lowers insulin levels, which curbs your motivation to eat light.

Spicy foods
Do you like it hot? I hear this good news: that eating spicy foods can help you burn more fat. Spicy foods make you sweat and raise your heart rate, which increases the level of metabolism in the interim. Do not hesitate to put a little chilli to stimulate your body

 Green Tea

Green tea, the best choice not only because it calms the nerves, but because it protects against cancer, and many of the diseases. It also stimulates the metabolism. Experts say that drinking 5 cups of green tea can help burn up to 70 to 80 calories a day. That's not bad at all

Low-fat milk / skimIn addition to building strong bones, prevents the production of calcium Calctrul, hormone tells the fat cells increase more. Several studies have found that the integration of low-fat dairy products or fat-free in your diet can help you lose weight more

WaterSkimp on water, it will be difficult for you to lose weight. Drought slows down your metabolism, and can lead to sugar cravings and fatigue also. Experts recommend drinking 8 glasses of warm water

 Cinnamon
Research showed that the development of a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon, with food, which helps metabolize sugars and sugar levels down. This is helpful because high blood sugar levels and excess sugar in the blood, can lead to fat storage. Highlights the sweet taste of cinnamon in the food. So sprinkle a little of it on your
food, such as apples, cheese, rice, and chicken

Ways to Protect Your Skin during the Cold ...

I love this time of the year, when there is a wonderful nip in the air. But winter also tends to play havoc with my skin leading to dry, flaky skin and chapped lips. Here are a few tips that I have tried myself that will help you keep your skin hydrated and glowing through winter.

Moisturize:
Moisturize, moisturize and then moisturize some more. The best time to moisturize is after a shower as your skin absorbs moisture better. Try applying a little moisturizer to your skin, at least half an hour before your shower. It works wonders. Carry a little bottle of moisturizer in your bag to make sure you can touch up your face and hands every few hours. And make sure before you hit the sack, your face and body is well moisturized.

Sunscreen:
So who said sunscreen is only for the summers? Winter might have its share of dull skies, but that does not exempt you from using sunscreen. Mix your sunscreen with your moisturizer and apply it; alternatively buy a combined sunscreen & moisturizing product. Make sure you reapply every few hours especially if you are going to be outside.

Exfoliate:
Dry skin tends to accumulate dead cells much faster. A good body scrub and a facial exfoliate can help remove dead skills from your body. Make sure you use a loofah while bathing. Ensure that you moisturize after exfoliating.

Hot Water showers:
Are a strict No No! Hot water robs skin of moisture, so it’s best to stick to lukewarm water.

Eat Right:
Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and some amount of nuts to make sure your skin is supplied with enough nutrients to keep it supple and glowing. Include moderate amounts of olive oil as it helps with skin health.

Water:
Drink lots of water. It is very important to drink at least 2 liters of water everyday, since it hydrates your skin from within. Water plays a huge role in keeping your skin alive and retaining the moisture as well as keeping skin disorders at bay. Herbal tea is also great. Try green tea since it not only supplies anti-oxidants to your skin, but is known to aid weight loss.

Lip Balm:
There is nothing more ugly that chapped, dry lips. Yuck! This winter, invest in a good lip balm. Carry one with you and reapply at regular intervals. Also don’t keep licking your lips to moisturize them. It will dry them out more. Use a gentle exfoliating brush over them once a week to get rid of any dead skin.

Products:
Switch to good quality products with more nourishing ingredients like Vitamin E or nut oils and with added vitamins and anti-oxidants to help your skin cope with the changing temperatures. Avoid soap as it may dry skin further. Instead switch to a gentle face cleanser.

Hands, Legs and Nails:
These need extra care during winters. Use special moisturizers and try immersing your hands and legs in warm water to which a few drops of oil have been added, every few days.

Good Luck!

TIPS ON OILY SKIN CARE

1. Keep your skin absolutely clean - You might be quite aware of the fact, that oilier the skin, the dirtier it looks and feels. And to get rid of this, keep your skin clean by washing it at least twice a day.
Generally, some doctors recommend you to use detergent-type soaps on your face. As a substitute to it, you can add 1-2 drops of dish washing detergent to your regular soap.
While some doctors condemn the use of detergent-type soaps as they are too harsh for your oily facial skin. Instead they recommend glycerin soaps to be used to clean your face twice a day.
If using a detergent soap irritates your facial skin then try the glycerin soap, easily available over the counter
.
2. Give Aloe-Vera a Try - This wonder plant of the household is the best at absorbing skin oils. Slice open a leaf and smear the gel on your face 3 times a day. Let it dry. Or you can also keep a small amount of gel in the refrigerator during the summers for a refreshing face-lift.

3. Wipe with Astringents - Wipe the oily spots on your face by rubbing alcohol or a combination of alcohol and acetone that helps degrease your oily skin. Many drugstores even sell pre-moistened, individually wrapped alcohol wipes that are really portable, you can carry them in your purse for quick touch-ups all day long.

4. Carry Tissue papers with you - Paper facial tissues are the best substitute of astringents as they help soak up excess oils in a pinch. Get those special oil-absorbing tissues from a cosmetic counter that are very in removing excessive oils between cleansings.
5. Rinse your face with cold water - Simply splashing your face with cold water and blotting it dry a couple of times a day is equivalent to applying chemicals to your skin. These cold water rinses remove excessive oils from your face.

6. Say NO to moisturizers - Do not ever go after those tempting advertisements compelling you to buy facial moisturizers for oily skin. These are the fatal temptations taking you to disastrous skin. Instead apply a sunscreen on your face before facing the sun or going outdoors. And yes, do not forget to check the labels for products especially designed for oily skin.

7. Make your own scrub - Make a paste of a small amount of ground almonds with honey and apply as a facial scrub for removing oils and dead skin cells. Now gently massage this paste on your face with a hot washcloth. Finally, rinse with cold water.
Another scrub from oatmeal mixed with aloe vera can prove to be very beneficial for you. Rub gently on your skin and leave on for 15 minutes, Then rinse thoroughly. And if suffering from acne on your face, then you should probably skip the scrub, as it can aggravate your already-irritated skin.

8. Apply Masques on your oily face - Masques prove to be very beneficial in reducing the oiliness. Either Clay masques or you can mix Fuller's Earth (easily available) with a little water and make a paste. Apply this paste to the face and leave on for about 20 minutes and then rinse off.

9. Go for water-based cosmetics only - Try to make your skin breathe by living without make-up, especially foundation. Using make-up or foundation that are oil-based blocks the pores of your skin thereby resulting in blemishes. And if necessary, then use water-based make-up only, especially spot concealers rather than coating your entire face. In general, prefer stick with powder or gel blushers, and avoid cream foundations as much as possible.

10. Tie up your hair properly - Keep your hair away from your face as oily hair accompanies an oily skin.
11. Do not touch your facial skin - Avoid touching your face throughout the day as your hands deliver excessive oils and dirt.

12. Choose a powder for you - For that extra shine-free protection, use simple products for your oily face such as Johnsons Baby Powder. This makes a superb face powder when fluffed lightly over your makeup.
13. Splash on the hot suds - Hot water is a great solvent. So, warm water should be used to wash an oily face and that with plenty of soap. Hot water plus soap dissolves skin oil better than cold water and soap.

Tips for Chapped Lips

What I hate the most about Winter is how dry my lips get!

So for those who don't know, these are the reasons for chapped lips:

• Exposure to wind, sun, and cold, dry air. Since a person's lips are one of the most exposed parts of the body, they are typically affected by the elements before other parts of the body.
• Mouth breathing due to obstruction, as in allergic rhinitis, which dehydrates the lips.
• Contact dermatitis due to irritants or allergens in cosmetics or skin-care products.
• Certain medications, such as those used to treat acne.
• A habit of frequently licking your lips. When lips become chapped it is very common for people to lick their lips in an attempt to moisten them. Although saliva soothes momentarily, the act perpetuates the cycle of dry and irritated lips.
• Dehydration saps the body’s cells of moisture, including the lips.
• Vitamin deficiency is a surprising culprit in perpetually chapped lips. Certain nutritional deficiencies cause insufficient cellular hydration.

and my 4 best advises would be:

1. Lip cream or balm - Apply lip balm frequently, especially before going out in cold, dry weather. Avoid flavored lip balms that can tempt you into lip licking.
2. Sunscreen - Because sun exposure can dry and burn the skin, use a lip cream or balm containing sunscreen to protect the lips from harmful rays.
3. Lip licking - Avoid licking your lips. Saliva evaporates quickly and digests the thin membrane protecting lips, leaving lips drier than before you licked them.

4. Hydrate - Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Dehydration typically results in chapped lips.

My personal favorite chap-sticks/lip balms:

I just LOVE the smell and taste of this lip balm! and let's not forget how cute it looks!

I think any product by Nivea is just the softest and smoothest. This is absolutely the best chap-stick I have ever used.

GREASY FACE!!! :/

I'm one of those unlucky girls with oily skin. I've tried sooo many products but nothing seems to help.
However, I've learned that maybe if you can't reduce the oil, at least try NOT TO INCREASE IT!!! and that's what I had been doing for months by using Cetaphil Moisturizer with SPF 50.
I recently asked my dermatologist about a good moisturizer and he was shocked when I told him I've been using Cetaphil's because it's too greasy and it makes my face more oily which makes me break out even more!
So my dermatologist's advice was NOT to use any moisturizer since my face is so oily! .

So hopefully I will not be having to powder my face every couple hours because it's so shiny!!

PCD's Workout Routine

I bought this DVD as I'm determined to start regularly exercising this year, I wanted a fun way in which I didn't feel like I was exercising & I've always enjoined dancing so I figured a workout/dance DVD was my best option. Being a fan of the Pussycat dolls I saw this & bought it in the hopes that the dance moves would be similiar & fun to do.

I love the DVD, its good fun & gets me out of breath. Crazy hardcore its not but I'd definitely recommend it if your quite new to the dance/fitness DVD thing or if your just a Pussycat Doll fan. The DVD is split into three workouts 'Don't cha', 'Burlesque' & 'Buttons' as well as a warm up & cool down. I found it quite easy to grasp the moves, but I struggled slightly on Burlesque & Buttons but I got it after re-doing them a few times. I did feel a bit of an idiot standing there doing a burlesque routine in my living room which Robin shouting "Bite, step, push it, slap it" but its all good fun.

I worked up a bit of a sweat but other people's reviews are saying its not that good a workout but I'll let you be the judge, I suppose it depends more on your personal level of fitness & what kind of exercise your used to. The dance moves are however a bit repeatitive & its just a small routine that you repeat over & over to the song but that's why its so easy to learn the steps & remember them. Nicole only features in the Buttons performance which is a bit misleading when its very much advertised like Nicole will be in the entire thing. But all in all I enjoy the DVD I want to workout to it, the dancers all have great bodies but yet sometimes look like they're feeling the burn which encourages you. I'd definitely recommend it, Robins a great choreographer, who motivates you really well & the moves are sexy & fun to do.

Good Luck

TIPS:

Let's start this blog with some useful tips :)

 Cucumbers

1. Cucumbers juice helps fade freckles.
2.
As we all know, cucumbers help remove the dark circles around the eyes by placing.
3. Cucumbers contain large amounts of minerals and vitamins.

4. If you haven't heard this before, then you've got to try it! Boil a cucumber, sliced. Then once it cools down, wash your face with it and see how soft it gets!
